Londonderry overview

The second largest city in the country could soon have the London part removed from its name should the latest petition be successful, but for now at least it remains as Londonderry. It is a walled city; the only one completely preserved in all of Ireland. It is also one of the best examples of a walled city in all of Europe, largely because it was the last walled city to be built back in the early 17th century. The city has two main religions, but for a trouble-free stay, all religion talk is best left alone. Londonderry is a shopping mecca in the northwest of the country due to its two giant shopping malls as well as endless streets lined with stalls and boutique-style shops.
